Volunteer Role
Hello!
We’re so excited that you have signed up to be a part of the backpack program at the Sumner Community Foodbank to help benefit students in the Sumner-Bonney Lake School District as well as the Dieringer School District. If you’ve never helped with the backpack program before, here’s are some quick tips that will help you make the most of your time serving at the food bank.
Once again, THANK YOU for taking the time to serve our community. Many hands make light work, and we’re excited that you are part of the team helping to feed the students of Sumner, Bonney Lake, and beyond. We’d love it if you would share your experience assembling bags on social media and encouraging others to participate. Include a link to our signup form at bit.ly/SumnerBackpack and use #sumnerbackpack so we can track all the involvement over the year.
Team Leader Directions
Hello!
This section is for anyone who signed up their team to volunteer at Sumner Community Food Bank to pack Backpacks. For the 2018/2019 School year, there are 465 Volunteer spots to be filled for the Backpack Program. Below are some tips to help you organize the team you are bringing to volunteer. Before moving forward, please be sure you read over the volunteer info above. The following tips will allow you and your team to have all the bags packed between 6:00 and 7:00 PM.
Key Roles To Assign To People
Example from 10/17/2018
Thanks for getting your team involved in volunteering with the Sumner Community Food Bank.
Look for log jams:
Help out where there might be pressure points in the system.
- Are too many bags getting piled up on the table before they’re getting placed in boxes? Move someone from the assembly line to help fill boxes.
- Are supplies running low on the assembly line? You can jump in and place fresh supplies from under the table.
Grab pictures, stories, and feedback.
Pictures: During and/or after the bag assembly snap a few pictures of your team serving, send your best ones to jadonh@openlife.church. To protect other’s privacy, be sure your picture only includes content related to the bag assembly line, with only you and/or your team of people who you have permission to share pictures of, with no other people in the background.
Share Stories: We would love it if you told us what volunteering at the food bank, packing bags, and being with your team meant for you as a leader and any stories from your team individually.
Feedback: Let us know any pain points that might have arisen during your time serving. Everyone serving the backpack program is a volunteer, and we’d love to hear best practices that helped maximize your team’s efforts in volunteering so that we can pass along your thoughts onto the next team.
